Stockwell Hall

STOCKWELLCOME!

We are excited to have you join us in Stockwell. You are entering a community with a long and rich tradition of community spirit and student leadership.

Many exciting changes have come with the reopening of Stockwell Hall. Foremost, significant structural renovations have taken place including the installation of central air conditioning, wireless internet access, and new community spaces. Stockwell’s classic beauty compounded with the resources of modern design have produced an even more beautiful and student-centered community.

In addition to our physical modernization, the face of our students will change as well. For the first time since our opening in 1940, Stockwell Hall will host both men and women. With a 70 year history as an exclusively female residence hall, we are excited to welcome all students to our community.

Among our most exciting initiatives is the advent of the Sophomore Year Experience. Students with support from faculty and staff will be joining efforts to create a community dedicated to the developmental needs of sophomores. We look forward to the leadership of this year’s residents in designing a truly innovative program.

There are many people devoted to the success of Stockwell Hall. Twenty student staff live and lead within our community, providing resources for the diverse needs of our residents:

  • Ten of our resident staff serve as Resident Advisors (RA), working to directly develop individual floor communities.
  • Seven Community Assistants (CA) are available at our Community Center to provide a welcoming environment in the hub of our residence hall.
  • Three additional specialized positions exist within the community, including our Diversity Peer Educator (DPE), and the Peer Academic Success Specialist (PASS).

In addition to our Resident Staff, two professional staff members comprise the Stockwell Leadership Team (LT). Our Community Center Manager and Hall Director work closely with the Resident Staff and Hall Organizations.  The LT are available to meet individually with students to provide various means of support and resources.

Regarding the physical aspects of our community, our Building Facilities Manager directly leads the efforts of our custodial and maintenance staffs to provide a clean and orderly community. Please take the time to reach out and meet any of our wonderful staff throughout Stockwell, and we will do the same.

We look forward to your arrival and anticipate a successful and creative year. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we will see you very soon.
