What
is MSmart?
The MSmart Healthy Dining Program designates menu items in the Residence Hall Dining Rooms that are healthy choices.
Our recipes are analyzed for specific requirements such as fat, protein,
calories, vitamins and minerals appropriate for traditional college-age
students. Only recipes meeting specific criteria bear the MSmart insignia
on our nutrition cards.

How
to Read Dining Services Nutrition Cards
The card below shows nutrition information as it is presented in the
dining halls.

Cards
may also have a Vegan sticker when the item contains no animal products,
or a sticker stating that the item contains peanuts and/or other nuts.
All of our items use high-quality ingredients and focus on flavor, appearance
and overall appeal. If improving your health is one of your goals, pay
special attention to the MSmart Logo in the corner of the label card.
It shows you the most nutritious foods. Each MSmart recipe must meet specific
requirements for fat, protein, vitamin, and mineral content appropriate
to college-age students. So if you see the MSmart Logo, you've found a
tasty and nutritious dish!
What is MFit? MFit is the healthy choice
designation developed by the Health Promotion Division of the University of Michigan Health System. The MFit criteria are designed for a general population and specifically target heart health. Many
food items in the Residence Hall Dining Rooms would be both MSmart and MFit. Find out more at the MFit website: http://www.med.umich.edu/mfit/
