dining & meal plans: Passover Board Termination

Passover 2009, Sundown (Dinner) April 8 – 16
Students with meal plans who wish to observe Passover may pursue the following options:

University Housing:  Residential Dining Services does not maintain kosher kitchens. During Passover each hall provides matzo, gefilte fish, chicken soup with matzo balls, charoset, hard boiled eggs, and Passover desserts. In addition, some entrée items are prepared without food products prohibited during Passover, and certain foods, such as matzo, gefilte fish, and horseradish are served directly from the container. If students are unsure whether or not items are acceptable for Passover, they may ask the supervisor or chef at the dining location.
Students holding meal plans who are not able to eat at Residence Hall Dining locations have the following options available:

  • The Hillel Foundation will serve two Seder meals. Students wishing to attend one, or both Seders at Hillel should make reservations directly with Hillel at 734-769-0500. Reservations for Passover 2009 must be made by March 26th. Space is limited. In addition, Hillel serves kosherfor-Passover lunches and dinners during the entire holiday. Pre-paid reservations are required for these meals, also on or before March 26th. The cost for a Seder meal is $20.00. Lunches at Hillel during Passover are $9.00 and dinners are $12.00. For more information go to www.umhillel.org.
  • Home Hospitality for Seders is a program also administered by Hillel. If you cannot be with your own family for the Seder, Hillel can match you up with an Ann Arbor family to share the Seder meal. Call Hillel, 734-769-0500.
  • Chabad House Student Center, 715 Hill Street, will also serve meals throughout Passover. There is a charge for these meals. Reservations will be taken until Passover. For further information contact Chabad House at 734-995-3276.

Students who do NOT wish to eat at the Residence Halls may apply for a board rebate for Passover by completing the Passover Board Termination form below. Students may request a rebate for one meal daily (either lunch or dinner), or for both meals, and will receive a 70% rebate for the meals selected. The rebate will be applied to a Blue Bucks Account.

The deadline for Passover Board Termination submissions has now passed.
