Housing Billing and Refund Policies

 

 

Typical Charges to Student Accounts
Below is a summary of typical charges for students living in the the Residence Halls

Charges required for all Residence Hall Contract holders:

  • Hall Government Fee - $25/year
  • Residential Computing Support and Activation Fee - $75/year

Optional Charges:

  • Cable Television - $129 per term
    • Cable television is activated in all student rooms as of fall move in. An equal share of the cable television fees per term is billed to each roommate’s Student Account. Residents who wish to not be billed for cable television fees must submit a cancellation form at the beginning of fall or winter terms (approximately two weeks after the start of the term).
  • Refrigerator Rental
    • Small Refrigerator - $45 per year
    • Micro Refrigerator - $140 per year
  • Telephones
    • Local calls are included as part of room and board fees. Long distance calls are made by using an individual authorization code (which residents activate) to make long distance calls. These charges are billed to a student’s account. Rates are available from University Information Technology Communications Department.
  • Laundry
    • Cash and Blue Bucks – the washer is $1.00 and the dryer is $.75
  • ResComp Computer Technician Support - $30 per hour (bill in half-hour installments)
  • Parking - $210 per year
    • This fee only applies to residents of any hall who have been issued a parking permit for a University Housing operated parking lot.

Processing Fee

When certain fees are charged to a Student Account, an additional processing fee of $5 may also be charged. This processing fee may apply in cases of damage/loss assessment, late return of items borrowed from the front desk, lost keys/keycards, lockouts and room changes. In some cases, the $5 processing fee may be avoided by paying the original charge in person by cash or check. Residents should check with their front desk regarding any specific such charge, which may be unique to their hall.

Damage and Loss Assessment

Residents who are found responsible for the loss of or damage to University property or the personal property of others may be required to make restitution. A list of representative replacement and repair charges for residence halls is available from Facilities on the Housing Web site.

Lock Out

  • First 2 lock outs are free. $5 charge per subsequent lock out.

Replacement Room Key Cards

  • First Card - $10
  • Second Card - $10
  • Third Card - $30

Special – Michigan Learning Community program Fees

  • Lloyd Hall Scholars Program Fee $50 per year
