Reporting Bias-Motivated Incidents in University Housing

University Housing is committed to providing an environment conducive to the educational, psychological, and social development of our residents. We attempt to create and nurture this environment through encouragement of respect for the rights of the individual balanced against the rights and interests of the community as a whole. This is no small task with populations as diverse as those found in our residence halls. We expect that all members of the residence hall community—residents, staff and visitors—act in a manner that demonstrates respect and consideration for those around them. These regulations, the Community Living Standards (CLS),
as described in Community Living at Michigan, reflect this perspective,
with a strong leaning towards educational outcomes in insta Community Living at Michigan specifies the community and behavioral standards expected in University residence halls. It also identifies what you can expect from University Housing in terms of your rights and prerogatives as a resident. The policies, procedures and judicial/conflict resolution
process described in Community Living at Michigan apply to all students
who have signed a residence hall contract. While residents are always
responsible for the conduct of their guests, it should be noted that guests
who are not residents in any University Housing facility, but are enrolled
students at the University, may be subject to sanctions under the Statement
of Student Rights and Responsibilities. |
