Stockwell CozieOur residential communities are more diverse, in just about every sense, than virtually any other setting on campus. But, as you'll discover, opening up those possibilities and learning to live within a large and diverse community won't always be easy. That's why we provide lots of support from residence hall staff as our community develops and refines skills in communication and interaction that acknowledges, if not celebrates, the differences that help make Michigan a vibrant and stimulating community.

To help promote understanding and maintain a positive and supportive environment within the residence halls, our staff and students present films, lectures, workshops, exhibits and other activities that enhance cultural awareness.

As members of our residence hall staff, Minority Peer Advisors (MPAs) and their assistants work to strengthen the living-learning environment by conducting educational, cultural, social, and personal enrichment programs. MPA's also serve as counselors and friendly listeners for all resident and staff, and consultants and referral sources for minority residents. In addition, most residence halls have multicultural lounges. Although open to all residents, these lounges are the central location for multicultural council activities and programs.
