| The
Application Process for Entering Transfers
An application for on-campus
housing is automatically mailed to newly admitted undergraduate
sophomore and junior students who have paid their enrollment deposit or
had it officially waived four weeks prior to the mailing date.
Schedule
The Housing Information Office begins mailing applications for each
term as follows:
Fall Term: Mid March
Winter Term: Mid October
Spring-Summer Terms: Mid March
Following this schedule,
students who have not received an application within four weeks after
mailing their enrollment deposits (EDR) should contact our office with
the following information:
- their University-assigned
identification number (MCard ID)
- whether they desire
Residence Hall or Northwood Community Apartments
- the address where
their mail should be sent for the three months preceding their arrival
on campus
See descriptions below:
Residence
Hall Options
Max
Kade German Residence , a house within Baits, is a residence
program that provides students an opportunity to learn and practice German
in an informal setting.
On-Campus
Apartment Living Option
Northwood
III
Located on North
Campus, Northwood III apartments are the newest on-campus option for sophomore
to senior students. There are 400 single undergraduates living in the
apartment community. Students can sign either a nine month or twelve month
contract.
Henderson
House
Henderson features
a cooperative living arrangement for women. With its reasonable rates
and friendly, pleasant atmosphere, this large, traditional house provides
one of the less expensive
alternatives to both residence hall and private apartment living. Henderson
House maintains its own application process.
Martha
Cook Building
Martha Cook houses 140 female students in a beautiful historic building
on South University. MCB maintains its own application process.
Meal
Plans
All students living in a residence hall are required to have a meal plan. Students not living in a residence hall can purchase a meal plan from University Housing.
Contract
Reassignment
New transfer students
are eligible to assume the residence hall space of another student who
already has a signed contract for the upcoming academic term but wants
to pursue other housing options. Students who wish to reassign their contract
to an incoming student can submit their information on the contract reassignment
electronic bulletin board. You may view current listings and further information
about contract
reassignment under "Contracts and Rooms."
Off-Campus
Housing
Any housing
not owned and operated by the University is considered "off-campus
housing." Off-Campus
Housing includes small group housing - fraternities, sororities, and
student-owned-and-operated co-ops - as well as apartments, houses and
rooms within houses. Two-thirds of the University's students live in the
off-campus market. Most off-campus housing located near the campus comes
furnished. Other off-campus housing consists of large unfurnished apartment
complexes, occupied by professionals and graduate students, which is located
at the periphery of town.
