Extended Stays

If you are requesting to remain in your residence hall beyond the contracted move-out date of April 26, you must complete the on-line application.

All requests submitted at this time will automatically be assessed $100 as the deadline date for submission was 5 p.m. Monday, April 21st.

Extended stay in the residence halls and Northwood III beyond Saturday, April 26 is available to eligible residents for $50 per day (see exceptions below.) Residents must submit a request for extended stay and the request must be approved by your Office Coordinator. Residents who stay late without authorization will be charged $100 plus the per diem rate of $50.

Extended stays will not be allowed in Mary Markley Hall . This building will be closed immediately at the end of Winter Term in order to accommodate Spring/Summer Term occupancy. However, if you are a current Markley resident, enrolled for spring classes and residing in Markley Hall, please contact Office Coordinator Robin McArdle-Weaver, to facilitate the move to your new room.

Encoded keycard access to residence halls expires at 11 am on April 26. If your extended stay is approved, you must go to your front desk prior to the standard move-out time to have your keycard re-encoded. Otherwise, you will be locked out of your room.

Fee Exception: Residents that fall into one of the categories listed below may remain in their residence hall without charge until the specified date and time indicated. Residents must submit an extended stay application and receive approval from their Office Coordinator in order to avoid fees.

  • Residents participating in graduation - Residents who are graduating or are participating in commencement activities (such as in the commencement band) may request an extended stay for no later than 12 noon, Sunday, April 27.
  • Current Residence Staff (RAs, MPAs, etc.) and Desk Staff - Current Residence Staff and desk staff may request an extended stay for no later than 12 noon, Monday, April 28.
  • Spring Half-Term University Housing contract-holders - As a courtesy to current residents, University Housing will allow those who have Spring Half-Term housing contracts for Markley Hall to request an extended stay in their current residence hall room until 11am on Monday, April 28, when Spring Half-Term housing contracts begin.
  • UM Summer Camp Staff - Residents who will be serving as Summer Camp Staff may request an extended stay in their current room until 12 noon, Monday, April 28.
  • UM Summer Orientation Leaders - Residents who will be working as Summer Orientation Leaders may request an extended stay in their current room until 12 noon, Monday, April 28.

 

Intercollegiate Varsity Student Athletes - Residents competing in intercollegiate sports during Move-Out weekend may request an extended stay in their room until 12 noon, Monday, April 28. These students will then move to South Quad for temporary housing.
Note: Student athletes at an away competition who will not be back on campus by 12 noon on Monday, April 28, must pack up their belongings and place them in storage until they return to campus, at which time they will retrieve their belongings and move to South Quad.
