  The Basics - Title Text

Fall Move-In will take place September 1 through September 4, with the majority of first-year and transfer students moving in Tuesday through Thursday, and returning students moving in on Friday. It's very important that each student adhere to the designated Move-In date for his or her hall, house and/or wing, so that activity can be distributed across the week. You’ll receive an e-mail message in early August telling you that your room assignment is ready. Then you can just log on to “My Assignment” and find out your room and hall, room phone number and any roommate information. You’re assignment will include approximate room dimensions and whether a custom-built loft is allowed in your room. You’ll also be able learn your designated Move-In Day and get driving directions to your hall.

To further smooth the Move-In process, students are asked to arrive at their halls between 9am and 9pm (weekdays) and between 10am and 7pm during the weekend, which is also when the halls' Community Centers will be open for check in.

Hotel space in and around Ann Arbor will be limited. We recommend that you make arrangements as soon as possible for family members or friends who want to stay overnight. The Ann Arbor Convention and Visitors Bureau maintains an up-to-date list of available hotel space during that week. The Bureau's office hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. Their phone number is (734) 995-7281 or toll free (800) 888-9487.

International students should contact UM's International Center to obtain additional information about arriving on campus.

If you have special moving-in needs due to a disability, please send a message to that effect to Doug White, Senior Housing Advisor, so that we can be prepared to accommodate those needs when you arrive.
