Parking Permits
Northwood residents living in Northwood I, II, IV and V may apply for permits as follows: Single residents – one permit; Families – up to two permits.

Northwood III residents apply through a lottery and may purchase one permit, if awarded. Northwood III parking permit rules are available separately online.

Each household must have at least one licensed operator for each vehicle for which a permit is requested. All vehicles are required to have current license plates. All vehicles must be registered in the name of the Contract Holder and/or domestic partner. All vehicles not registered to immediate family members (such as a spouse/partner or parents) must be approved by a Community Center Office Supervisor, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Each resident who receives a permit will be assigned to a specific lot. The permit does not guarantee that a parking space will always be available in the specified lot. If no space is available in an assigned lot, vehicles with permits may be parked in other Northwood lots, subject to the same rules. First vehicle permit holders are asked not to park in "All Colors Valid" spaces until all other spaces are filled. These are the only spaces available to residents with second vehicle permits. All vehicles displaying Northwood permits must be in operable condition (no flat tires, not on blocks, etc.), and must be used on a regular basis (at least once every two weeks). Motor homes, trailers and boats are not allowed in University Housing parking lots.

Temporary Vehicles
All temporary vehicles used by residents, such as those which are rented or on loan, are required to have a temporary permit. These permits are available at the Community Center with proper documentation. Residents selling and newly acquiring a vehicle are eligible for a temporary second vehicle permit for up to 30 days for a fee of $5.00 for each two week period.

Guest Permits
Guests may park in designated visitor parking spaces or with a guest permit. Guest permits are available at the Community Center for $1 per day, and can be issued for a maximum of four weeks. LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS ARE REQUIRED FOR GUEST PERMITS. Guest permits, which must hang from the rear view mirror, authorize parking in non-metered spaces only.

Motorcycles
Motorcycles may park without charge or permit in "Motorcycles Only" areas. However, if parked in a regular automobile space, rules for regular vehicles apply.

Parking Permit Regulations
General policies as stated in the University Housing Parking Policies section apply to residents participating in University Housing permit lotteries who are ultimately issued a permit for a University Housing-owned lot .
