Residential Move-Out

Student move-out from University Housing residence halls and undergraduate apartments will begin in the last days of April as students complete their exams.  Residents must depart by 11 a.m. on Friday April 27, when the halls close.  Complete details for Move-Out can be found on the University Housing website including:

• Check out procedures
• Extended stay  
• Rental refrigerator return
• Ethernet hub return
• Room condition and damages
• Blue Bucks credit to student account
• Mail service and forwarding
• Residential recycling and donation items 

University Housing does not offer parking permits for Move-Out.  Because the migration is staggered over more days than Move-In, parking is not generally an issue.  Still, City of Ann Arbor parking regulations will be in force as residents move out of the halls and apartments.

Mail Forwarding

After students depart the residence halls, University Housing staff will forward first class mail for 30 days for those who complete the Mail Forwarding Request form.   Without completing the on-line form, all first class mail will be returned to sender.

We recommend students also change their mailing address on any credit cards, newspaper, periodical subscriptions, and other business or personal contacts.  It is also important to submit summer address change directly to the Office of the Registrar via Wolverine Access.

Recycling and Donations

During Move-Out, University Housing coordinates a recycling and donations program in collaboration with University of Michigan Waste Management Services. Tons of clothing, shoes, bedding, household items and non-perishable food left behind by residents are donated to local charities. You may want to remind your student what items you want back!
