Connecting & Troubleshooting
ResComp Help Desk
Monday through Friday
8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
T: 734-647-1133
E: resnet@umich.edu
To speak with a ResComp representative, contact the Help Desk, or visit one of our Centers for Vulnerability Control.
For complete instructions on how to connect or reconnect to the U-M network, download a PDF of our NetGuide and save it to a portable storage device (Disc or flash drive) and then load it onto your computer. This will allow you to follow our step-by-step directions at any time, without being online. A printed copy of the NetGuide is provided to all students when they move in; copies are also available at your hall's Community Center.
If you have difficulty connecting, please contact us.
Centers for Vulnerability Control (CVCs)
The goal of the CVCs is to provide a location throughout the academic year where residents can take their computers for help with computer security issues.
Services Available
- Anti-Virus install and mini-consultation
- Anti-ad/spyware install
- OS updates/patches
- Virus remediation
- Ad/Spyware remediation
Residents of University Housing, Northwood Apartments and the Lawyers' Club may bring their computers to a CVC to receive assistance with issues ranging from worms and viruses to connecting to the network.
A ResComp representative will guide you through the steps required to diagnose your problems and direct you to the appropriate solutions or resources.
Note: We strongly encourage you to back up all of your personal files before you bring your system in for repair. We take all appropriate precautions, but data could be inadvertently lost during repair.
