Move-In Makers

Move-In Makers (MIMs) are enrolled student volunteers who help smooth the move for others. They answer questions, provide directions, help unload belongings, and serve as ambassadors of the University of Michigan.

Look for Move-In Makers in their bright, distinctive t-shirts. They'll be happy to lend a hand, but please—no tipping!

What do Move-In Makers do?

Move-In Makers:

  • Move in early.
  • Receive meals and a MIMs t-shirt.
  • Build friendships.
  • Gain leadership and community service experience.
  • Act as a source of information and assistance to the U-M housing staff and students.
  • Assist security with traffic control.
  • Help unload and transport belongings to student rooms.
  • Assist University Housing staff in other tasks as needed to welcome our residents.

Be a Move-In Maker!

Even first-year students can be MIMs. It's a great way to meet people, and you'll get to move in before the crowd! University Housing is also seeking previous MIM volunteers to serve as Building Leaders. If you would like to be either a Volunteer or a Building Leader, go to the registration form for details.
