Live-In Hall Director
Position Description
Position Overview
Hall Directors (HD)s directly supervise undergraduate Resident Advisors, co-supervise a Peer Academic Support Specialist, and the Diversity Peer Educator and indirectly co-supervise the Community Assistants. HDs adjudicate conduct cases through the Housing Conflict Resolution process and manage crisis. HDs are on a duty rotation of one week of duty approximately two to three times a semester for an area of approximately 3,000 students.
HDs also work closely with the Building Team, comprised of Residence Education, Facilities, Dining, and Conferences professional staff, to manage building operations including opening and closing. HDs also attend weekly staffing meetings. Click here for the full HD job description.
Apartment Accommodations
Each furnished apartment, just like each residence hall, has a different style and design. Our unique apartments range from one to two bedrooms, including a private kitchen, bathroom and living room. All basic utilities (heat, water, and electricity/gas) are provided as well as local telephone, voicemail/call waiting service, basic cable and internet. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in buildings and staff can use their Blue Bucks (Michigan's campus currency, included in your board plan) for payment.
Painting your apartment, if coordinated with facilities, is an option. For reasons of hygiene, noise, allergies, etc., the keeping of animals or pets of any kind (including visiting pets) is not allowed, except for aquarium fish in 30-gallon tanks or smaller. Animals needed for aid to disabled persons are permitted with appropriate medical documentation.

Meal Plan
Hall Directors receive the unlimited meal plan, Blue Bucks and Dining Dollars each semester. A partner/spouse and dependents receives a plan with three meals per day.
Parking Permit
For live-in Hall Directors only, a blue parking permit will be provided with each appointment. These passes work in flat lots and the parking structures on campus. A partner/spouse may obtain a housing parking permit for Oxford, Bursley or Baits parking.
Annual Remuneration Overview
Figures are based on a 12-month contract. Apartment, utilities, cable, and Internet information are approximated based on the cost of living in Ann Arbor.

University Benefits
The University offers an extensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plan. Once employed for six months, the university will pay 75% tuition support for those wishing to continue their education, up to master's levels programs. Once a staff member has been employed for one year, they are eligible for the 401k retirement plan where a contribution of 5% by an employee is matched by 10% by the university.
