Overview and Description
Alice Lloyd Hall is located on The Hill. See a map of The Hill Area. Alice Lloyd Hall houses approximately 560 undergraduate students.

The Resident Staff consists of: 1 Hall Director, 1 Minority Peer Advisor, 18 Resident Advisors, 1 Resident Computer Systems Consultant, 1 Academic Peer Advisor, and 1 Greek Affairs Advisor.

Alice Lloyd has several opportunities for participation in student government. The One House Council is the umbrella government for Alice Lloyd. It currently has a budget exceeding $10,000. The Minority Council of Alice Lloyd is known as MYSTIC (Minority Youth Striving to Incorporate Cohesiveness).

Alice Lloyd is equipped with an in house ResComp computing site. In addition, students can enjoy spending time in the Art Room, vending machine room, game room, and may find the laundry facilities, and piano practice areas rather useful. The Umoja Lounge, the name selected for Alice Lloyd's minority cultural lounge, may be used by students as a study area, along with other hall lounges. Students will also find that having Alice's Place, a Retail Dining location, right in their building a wonderful amenity. Here students can enjoy the large selection of sandwiches, chips, candy, pastries, snacks and drinks.

Alice Lloyd is home to the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program (LHSP). LHSP offers first and second year students an academic community where they can learn how to use the resources of a world-class university in an intimate environment.

Alice Lloyd also houses the Health Science Scholars Program (HSSP). HSSP offers first year students who are interested in pursuing the health sciences an excellent academic experience set in a supportive and focused residential hall community.

History and Biographies - View House Biographies
Alice Lloyd Hall was completed in 1949 - in the midst of a labor and building materials shortage - at a cost of $2.9 million. From its commencement, Lloyd Hall remained an all-female hall until 1968, when the Pilot Program (now the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program) moved into the building and the hall became co-educational.

Hall and House Histories and Biographies
Alice Crocker Lloyd	Alice Lloyd Hall's namesake was a highly revered member of the U-M community and the University's Dean of Women from 1930 - 1950.
Angell	Sara Caswell Angell (1833 - 1903), wife of James Angell, president of the University. She was also one of the founders of the Women's League at the University of Michigan.
Hinsdale	Mary Louise Hinsdale, Ph.D. (1866 - 1946) was a teacher who was deeply involved in global affairs. She was primarily dedicated to high school and college faculty work.
Kleinstuck	Caroline Hubbard Kleinstuck was in one of the first classes of women that graduated from the University of Michigan in 1875. She was the first woman to earn a masters from the university; an M.A in mathmatics. She was the daughter of one of Kalamazoo's great paper barons. She went on to be a leader for women's suffrage and involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Palmer	Alice Freeman Palmer (1855 - 1902) was one of the first women graduates of the University. She had many academic accomplishments and went on to become the president of Whiley College. Palmer Field, originally the athletic field for women on campus, was named in her honor.
