Eligibility Requirements to Apply for ResStaff Positions
The following eligibility requirements apply to applicants for all Residence Education Staff positions, except where noted. These requirements must be satisfied at the time of application as noted below. Failure to establish any requirement will result in the loss of any offered position.

Undergraduate applicants
All undergraduate applicants must achieve the following by the end of Winter Term 2008:

  • Completion of at least 3 terms of course work on a college or university campus (not including summers)
  • Completion of 36 credit hours of course work completed on a college or university campus (no advanced placement credits)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, without rounding. This requirement must be met both at the end of Fall Term and at the end of Winter Term.
  • First term undergraduate business school applicants fulfill the GPA requirement based upon their admittance to the business school. After their initial semester these students must meet the 2.5 GPA requirement as outlined.
  • The Residential College will be consulted for confirmation of academic good standing for all Residential College applicants.
  • Successful completion of Psychology 405 (all positions except RCSC)

Graduate and Graduate Level Professional Degree applicants
All applicants in graduate programs or graduate professional degree programs must achieve the following by the end of Winter Term:

  • Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 on an 8.0 scale, or 5.5 on a 9.0 scale (both without rounding). This requirement must be met both at the end of Fall Term and at the end of Winter Term.

Note to All Applicants:

GPAs will be checked at the end of the Fall 2007 term and Winter 2008 term. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum GPA requirement at the end of Fall term will not be allowed to continue in the Selection process. New-hires who fail to meet these requirements at the end of Winter term will no longer be eligible for a staff position. Incoming transfer students willbe asked to present their transcripts from previously attended schools.

Courses selected as pass/fail or credit/no credit will be counted only towards meeting the 36 credit hour requirement; they will have no impact on GPA.

Housing Student Conflict Resolution records will also be checked to determine if an applicant is eligible to be hired for a staff position.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to notify Housing Administration, 1500 SAB regarding any special circumstances (e.g., incompletes, grade changes, etc.) that may influence final GPA.
