Global Scholars Program Resident Advisor

The Global Scholars Program (GSP) is part of the Program in Intergroup Relations (IGR) and seeks to promote social justice in global contexts through education. The 2009-2010 academic year will be the pilot year for this innovative living/learning community. It will provide academic courses that use intergroup dialogue to promote interpersonal understanding on social justice issues and video conferencing technology to connect GSP residents with students in other countries to engage in intercultural exchange. The location of the GSP residential program is to be determined. The GSP Resident Advisors are functionally supervised by the Hall Director and the GSP Director.

Time Commitment
An average of 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill all advising, counseling, programming and administrative responsibilities outlined for the Resident Advisor job description.
  • Assist residents with the process of creating and executing their Intergroup Collaboration Project.
  • Organize and host monthly Global Scholars Guest Lectures.
  • Participate in recruitment events and serve as GSP liaison to other units.
  • Assist as needed with the Global Understandings course.
  • Assist with the GSP Annual Intergroup Collaboration Project Symposium
  • Assist with GSP special event planning.

Compensation
100% room and board, basic cable, a cash stipend of $1,400, and the use of a mini-fridge for the academic year.
