Facilities Questions and Answers
Below are some of the most common questions that Facilities
receives. If you have a question, please read the answers below. If you
have further or unanswered questions, please contact our office or submit
an online FIX-IT
request.
- Who should I contact for phone repairs or service?
- Who should I call about cable repairs?
- The washers and dryers in the laundry rooms are not working
properly. Who should I contact?
- I have items to put in or take out of storage. Who can
help me?
- The vending and/or game machines are broken. Who can
fix them?
- There is a mess in the residence hall that needs cleaning.
Who do I alert?
- I need my personal property fixed or installed in my
room.
- I
need to have snow/ice or broken tree branches removed from the vicinity
of my residence hall/apartment.
- Call
UM ITComm at 7-8888 for
all phone problems like service, phone jacks, and phone equipment. For
Ethernet-related problems, contact ResComp
at 7-1133, or consult their Networking
Guide.
- Residence
Hall, Northwood III, and Northwood Community Apartment residents residents
should contact Comcast at 973-2266.
- Call
Automatic Apartment Laundries at 800-521-9938 for machine service.
- Contact
the Building Facilities Manager in your
residence hall to make arrangements.
- The
number to call should be on the machine or a wall plaque. You can also
report it to the front desk of your residence hall.
- Cleaning
is a housekeeping issue. Contact the Building
Facilities Manager in your residence hall.
- Our
maintenance staff does not repair or install residents' personal property.
You will need to call appropriate repair service for appliances and
ask friends for help in moving items.
- The
Plant & Grounds
Department handles all branch and snow/ice removal from residence
hall, Northwood III, and Northwood Community Apartment areas. In the
residence halls, call Plant & Grounds at 734-3422. In all Northwood
areas, call the Community Center at 734-0507 so that they can notify
Plant & Grounds of the problem.
