Lockset FAQ

University Housing seeks whenever possible and appropriate to accommodate the needs of its residents regarding religious observance.

University Housing will provide religiously observant Jewish students with keys so they may access their residence hall, individual room, and bathroom during Shabbat. These keys should be used from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown and on other Jewish holidays during which religious observance prohibits the use of an electronic card access reader.

Religiously observant Jewish residents may request keys by downloading this form and turning it in to the Housing Information Office, 1011 SAB. Requests must be accompanied by a letter of approval from Hillel.

The Front Desk will notify residents when keys are available to be checked out. This process typically takes three business days. These keys are not transferable to any other individual. In the event a resident violates the terms of key use, University Housing will revoke these keys for the remainder of the academic year.
