University Housing provides Building Block furniture in most residence halls. As of Fall 2008, Barbour, Bursley (Lewis, Van Duren, Sanford (2nd, 3rd, 4th) and Hamilton (2nd, 3rd, 4th) Houses only), Couzens, East Quad, Fletcher, Lloyd, Markley, Mosher-Jordan, Newberry, Northwood III, Oxford (Noble, Vandenberg and Seeley Houses only), South Quad, West Quad, and West Quad Cambridge have the multi-configuration Building Block Furniture. Residents are able to configure the furniture in a typical loft set-up; as bunk beds or twin beds with free-standing or stacked furniture; or as trundled beds.
Building Block furniture is also in Conger (1st, 4th floors), Lee and Parker Houses at Baits. These locations have some built-in furniture; consequently, these rooms do not have the entire set of Building Block furniture and the furniture cannot be set up in the loft configuration.
Since the furniture allows residents an opportunity to personalize their room and maximize space, leased or individually-owned and constructed lofts are not permitted in rooms with this furniture and no part of the room furnishings can be stored during the academic year.
All Northwood III single upper class apartments are "semi-furnished" with a stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, shower curtain, window treatments, Building Block furniture, including a bed, desk, desktop organizer, dresser, and bookcase, in the bedroom(s), dinette table and chairs, and floor lamps (economy 1 bedrooms do not include floor lamp). Unfortunately, we cannot remove any furnishings from these units and students are not allowed to supply their own personal beds. If you wish to move your furniture within your apartment, feel free to do so. However, moving the bed(s) from one room to another involves a more complicated process and consequently you must contact Facilities via FIXIT and submit a request. There will be a cost of $70 to move a bed
