University Housing, Residence Education is accepting applications for 1 Office Assistant. The office is located in Baits 1 Eaton House and will support the Assistant Director of Student Development and Experiential Learning.

Students awarded College Work Study for the 2014/15 academic year will be highly considered for the position.


Position Description:

In a student focused, student service, residential environment supervised by the Assistant Director of Student Development and Experiential Learning the Office Assistant will perform responsible clerical work such as:

Scheduling meetings, compiling and maintaining paper and electronic records, filing, tabulating, posting information, photocopying, preparing forms and distributing mail. Assist in Maize Pages management.  Collect and tabulate data for statistical reports, verify information, assist with project work related to hall council, Residence Halls Association, various other Housing sponsored student groups  and resolve routine problems.  Apply knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and utilize a general understanding of the department’s functions. 

Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity.

Experience in office organizational skills.  Experience with all Microsoft Office package software, google apps and Maize Pages.  Experience in a customer service setting.

Job Description 

HITO/Rescomp seeks an organized, responsible, friendly and approachable person to provide fundamental office functions for our staff in general and in support of two managers in particular. 

Minimum requirements for this position include: 1) availability to work a minimum of 10-20 hours a week for Fall/Winter Semesters; experience with the following: 2) Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications [professional or educational experience considered]; 3) Google calendaring to collaborate, keep track of events, attendees and locations; 4) experience greeting and routing customers visiting an office; 5) answering a general incoming phone line routing calls and; 6) retrieving mail and packages from a central building location. 

Desired qualifications:

Experience checking items in and out [books, equipment, any other object-related system]; inventorying and replacing office supplies; knowledge of intranets and experience writing HTML; posting room reservations; completing "other duties as assigned" and being amenable to doing work outside of this very narrow description [ie willing to pitch in and help with any office effort].
